I have heard some people say that FeFe Dobson (A pop-punk singer also from Canada) is a wannabe Avril Lavigne or that she isn't as good as Avril.
Being a fan of both, I think that they are both equally tremendously talented individuals who deserve their own spotlights separate from each other.
FeFe Dobson brings more of a ROCK/ PUNK edge to the Pop-Punk music, where-as Avril Lavigne Brings more of a POP edge to the Pop-Punk music.
