If someone has insurance, it would be covered under it. If it isn't, they can have it waived by the hospital. (I know because at the time, I didn't have health insurance.) The costs of the kit can be recouped thru most state's victims compensation programs. The headlines are salacious - but it's not necessarily as bad as you scream. Saw the video, and can't believe the state is saying there is an ample fund and the rape kits are paid automatically, and yet at the same time the victims are being denied! - Then again, maybe I can believe it - Seems like same crap different day where one hand doesn't know what the other is doing - they (the state), need to get their act together!
